Ghiorgo Zafiropulo Sculptor & Philosopher

This bust was created in 1966. Ghiorgo’s uncle (brother of his mother), Dimitri Economo von San Serff (1870-1951) served as First Lieutenant in the Austrian army during the first world war and fought in Northern Italy and South Tirol.

He married Eugenie Ralli and lived in Trieste. He was president of the Generali Insurance Company of Vienna and he was also president of the ship yards in the Adriatic Sea in addition to being on the supervisory board of a few banks. He founded a hospital for children in Trieste.
