Ghiorgo Zafiropulo Sculptor & Philosopher

The first work of art which Ghiorgo considered as such, although he had produced a bust and several medals representing friends and family members, is one in which he makes most reference to classical and mythological culture. Already the essential qualities are present: the Baccante is moving forward bearing her torch and ready to pass it on. The evocative power is supported by the accuracy of the attitude and the tension in the joints and muscles. The hands and the face are hardly worked in order not to distract the attention to superficial detail. It is the momentum of the woman which is to be perceived in this work which is precise but at the same time slightly crude.
