Opus N°20 Paradis Perdu

These are the legendary performers Margot Fonteyn and Rudolph Nureyev who were immortalized here in 1969 by Ghiorgo Zafiropulo in his last “pas de deux”. “Paradise Lost”, is one of the most famous ballets by Roland Petit with music by Marius Constant. Again the subject is Adam and Eve expelled from Paradise in a symbiotic embrace but it is much less tragic than the previous piece “After Eden”. The couple perform a pirouette in an acrobatic position where each dancer holds the other`s leg, both tense faces look towards each other in a moment of great tenderness. The back muscles are elaborately and powerfully portrayed. This work is beautiful when viewed from any angle as it is so perfectly balanced.
