Opus N°3 Taureaux Combattants

Also completed in 1962 this work compliments the preceding one. The horns of the two animals are entangled. One pushes powerfully; is conquering, his tail waving. The other resists; his tail is back but his hind legs are still planted on the ground ready to seize the moment of recoil. Again one can feel the breath and the effort. The special aesthetic which comes from this group is the sinuous movement of the two vertebral columns, especially noticeable when viewed from above. The patina is identical with that of the previous work.
